Robert H. Schultz, 83, of 3838 Crestwood Drive, Wausau, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Wausau Manor.

He was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Wausau to the late Ewald and Martha (Kitzerow) Schultz. He was a 1940 graduate of Wausau High School, where he was involved in orchestra and the football team. On Jan. 10, 1945, Bob married Ellen Reiche in Wausau. Ellen passed away in 1979. Bob married Louise (Garske) Hayes on Oct. 10, 1981, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wausau. She survives.

After 30 years of service, Bob retired in 1981 from the U.S. Post Office as a local carrier and was a member of Branch 215-National Association of Letter Carriers. Bob was instrumental in organizing the local Postal Credit Union and was past president of the Marathon County Postal Credit Unions.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. For three years, Bob was a quartermaster on the destroyer USS Sigsbee in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388 and American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10. Bob was a member of the Wausau "Golden K" Kiwanis Club and Wausau Elk's BPOE Lodge No. 248. He was a member of Forest Lodge No. 130, F.& A.M. and a 50-year member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Wisconsin. He also was a member of the Scottish-Rite Consistory, Valley of Eau Claire 32nd degree Mason, Zor Shrine Temple of Madison, Rib Mountain Scottish Rite Club, Timber Shrine Club and past treasurer of Wisconsin Valley Shrine Club of Wausau.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Wausau; one son, Terry (Loretta) Schultz of Wausau; one daughter, Kay Ellen (Michael) Brauner of Black River Falls; one stepdaughter, Patti (Aubrey) Fish of Apple Valley, Minn.; one stepson, Michael (Jan) Hayes of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two grandchildren, Chevy and Tasha Schultz; three step-grandchildren, Sarah Louise Fish, Matthew and Andrew Hayes; and one sister, Doris (Bill) Young of Janesville.

Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Nancy Johnson Russell will officiate. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, where military rites will be performed by VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Helke Funeral Home in Wausau and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. There will be a Masonic memorial service at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
