Galen Dale "Mac" McCommons, 72 of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Formerly of Flora, died at 7:50 a.m., Friday, July 17, 1998, at Harbor Side Nursing Home, New Haven, Ind.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 20, 1998, at Frank and Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Burial was in Kneff Cemetery, Flora, with full military rights. The Rev. Larry Matson officiated at the services. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Mr. McCommons was born July 28, 1925, in Clay County, the son of Clarence and Flossie (Brainard) McCommons. He married Betty Schuler in 1958. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Wayne Dale Baptist Church, Ft. Wayne, Ind., American Legion Post No. 330, New Haven, Ind., VFW Post No. 1006, Ft.Wayne, Ind., and a World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are his widow, Betty McCommons of Ft. Wayne, Ind,; two sons, Thomas McCommons of Irving, Texas, and Phil McCommons of Ft. Wayne, Ind,; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Dale Kincaid of Fort Walton Beach, Fla, Judy and John Gahan of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Bea and Jerry McDaniel of Leo, Ind.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Erma and August Neeley of Flora, Vera and Ivan Colclasure of Flora, Jane Hochgesang of Medinah, and Melba and Don Young of Louisville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister
