May 19, 1923 - August 22, 2005

Loving husband and father survived by loving wife of 56 yrs. Doris, and children, William, James, and Linda.Our father, friend, and husband will be in our hearts and missed by all. He was dearly loved by those who knew him, and always stood by his family and friends thru the good times and the bad. He was the best dad to us. Any donations should be placed in his name with either the Disabled American Veterans or Hospice Family Centers. Services will be held at Michigan Memorial Park, in Flat Rock, Mi. Sept. 9th, 2005 at 1:00 P.M.

Webmaster's Notes: William Edward Burke, service #623 81 12, enlisted in the US Navy V-6 September 28, 1942 at Detroit, Mich. He was received aboard the Destroyer USS Sigsbee DD-502 January 23, 1943 as Apprentice Seaman at Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY. He was advanced to Coxswain April 1, 1945.  William Edward Burke, Cox was transferred to ComDesPac for duty July 29, 1945 at Pearl Harbor. Bill Burke, along with his wife, Doris and son Bill attended the USS Sigsbee DD-502 West Coast Reunion at Sacramento, CA in June 2001. It was our pleasure to meet and reminisce DD-502 experiences with Bill and his family.   Bill Burke will be sorley missed by all USS Sigsbee veternans who knew him.
