He was received aboard the USS Sigsbee February 14, 1943 from Receiving Station Casco Bay at Portland ME as FC2c. Warren C Ihrke advanced in rating to CFC September 1, 1945. He was transferred April 10, 1946 to 6th Naval District Permenant Shore Patrol HQ, Charleston, SC. His total service on the USS Sigsbee was 3 years, 1 month and 28 days.  On the DD-502 Fire Controlmen and Gunners mates Mustered  with the Ordnance Division on the fantail, starboard side of 5 inch Gun #5 . Unless we were on gun or CIC watch Warren and I were together  at each muster until my transfer at Pearl Harbor August 5, 1945 (to stateside duty, including 12th Naval District Permenant Shore Patrol HQ, San Francisco, CA.) I am pleased that Warren and son, Paul attended the 2001 USS Sigsbee DD-502 Reunion at Virginia Beach. Soon after the 2001 reunion John Mastin received an e-mail from Paul Ihrke thanking John for his excellent work in displaying his collection of DD-502 ship and crew photos, artifacts, etc. Paul also said, "the bonding that took place aboard the USS Sigsbee in those short years can't really be described. Seeing Dad with these guys at the reunion was a wonderful experience."

Our thoughts and prayers go out for Paul Ihrke and family...........Billy Roberts, Yuma, AZ (Reviewed and edited by:  John Mastin, Scottsburg, IN)
