Reno, NV 89502

My Wife, Edy and I attended the 17th reunion of the USS Ringgold at Reno, NV, June 16 & 17, 2002. The reunion coordinators were, Henry Higgenbotham of Lakeland, FL. and Harvey Olson of San Leandro, CA. Seventeen (17) crew members and twenty two (22) guests attended. Edy & I made (24) guests.

The hospitality room was open Sunday, September 15th through 17th for display of Ship memorabilia and Ringgold comradely.

On Monday the reunion took a bus tour to Historic "Virginia City, NV." (9:AM to 2:PM) for gaming and lunch at the Delta Saloon.

Tuesday at 9:30AM a bus took the Ringgold crew and guests to beautiful Lake Tahoe for a lunch cruise returning at 2:45PM

The Ringgold banquet was held Tuesday evening at 6:PM. The food was delicious and the program of speakers was very interesting. Several of the crew and guests gave tribute to Lavon Erwin and her deceased husband Bob, for their part in organizing the first Ringgold reunion. Henry Higgenbotham gave a report on health and welfare of crewmen that could not make the reunion.

I (Billy Roberts) gave a short talk on "how to" access and view our Sigsbee502 Internet Website. I also agreed to assist David Lang, Son of DD-500 crewman Bill Lang, in establishing a website for the W.W.II destroyer, USS Ringgold DD-500.

The Meadow Wood Courtyard Motel gave us a brochure of group services and prices for consideration as a Sigsbee (West Coast Group) 2003 reunion site.
