Charles W. Cayton, S1c ( WW II)

Enjoyed joking around with his pals! Died June 17, 1980 in Veterans Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio from Carcinoma of Gastro Junction (Stomach Cancer).

Mr. Cayton was born February 3, 1924 in McWhorter, West Virginia to Clarence and Daisy (Montgomery) Cayton. He met and married Esther (Daniels) in Hebron, Ohio. The couple lived in Newark, Ohio and later moved to Thornville, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Esther; sons Larry, and Wade; daughters Terri, Betty, and Cindy.

Dates of enlistment in the Navy: 2/6/42 to 2/21/46. Re-enlisted 3/47 to 3/49. Service number: 2836741. Mr. Cayton was a lifelong member of VFW post Buckeye Lake.


Webmasters Note: February 6, 1942 Charles W. Cayton enlisted in the US Navy at Cleveland OH. January 23, 1943, He reported aboard the USS Sigsbee DD-502 as S2c  from the Recieving Barracks Brooklyn, NY.  With over 28 months service, Charles W. Cayton, S1c was transferred from the USS Sigsbee June 8, 1945, to Naval Hospital Oahu for treatment and disposition.
